 Flipcharts
Zim Zam Zoum Module 1
(Promethean Version) consists of ten
comprehensive
Activprimary flipcharts, comprising
flexible lessons to cover the first year
of French.
The flipcharts use the backgrounds and
graphics from the songs to bring
character
and vitality to the activities, so that
the look is colourful and engaging. These
flipcharts are differentiated into seven
Piste Verte
(standard) flipcharts and three
Piste Rouge
(Extension) flipcharts.
Each flipchart is
divided into suggested lessons, with
a lesson
plan at the start, listing
the
activities/objectives and the
skills covered. The lessons begin
with revision starter
activities and move progressively
through
the stages of vocabulary presentation,
practice and consolidation in oracy and
literacy, through to role-play.
(Incorporated along the way are
knowledge
about language, language learning
strategies, grammar and intercultural
study).
These lessons are
only suggestions and can be customised and
used in a highly
flexible way. Using the tray of
thumb-nails of the activity pages, it is
possible to dip in and out of activities
with great ease.
A further
fourteen flipcharts contain extremely
useful support materials such as
flashcards and vocabulary lists, which
can be printed off and laminated as
desired. The flashcards are even
presented in different formats, for
optimal versatility. This means that they
can be printed with or without the
caption.
The animated songs
and karaoke versions are embedded
in each flipchart and can be
accessed easily as the flipchart
progresses. They are not necessarily
positioned at the
beginning of the flipchart, as usually
the necessary vocabulary is introduced
first through
exercises and activities.
Extending far
beyond the standard drag and drop
exercises of most language-learning
software, these flipcharts use
an
extensive range of interactive devices
and games,
with a generous range of great activities
to choose from. All activities are
designed for
maximum
interactivity, with full use of
the large range of tools available on the
Promethean interface: pens for
annotation; eraser to
rub and
reveal; colour change;
roller
dice; spotlight tool; blind
reveal; sound; and of course
Activote for instant assessment.There is
also an interesting and innovative use of
tickertapes.
Every page is accompanied by clear and
comprehensive teacher’s notes to
help you get
the most out of the activity –
available on screen in one easy click, or
in a printable version.
Knowledge about
language is carefully addressed
and, as with all the activities, the
grammar presentation and practice can be
adopted or not according to the choice of
the teacher.
Most units also
contain a page of suggestions of websites
to investigate in order to develop
intercultural
knowledge.
 Characters
Ten-year old English girl, Lucy, lives
with her family in the south-west of
France,
in the city of Perpignan.
In ZIM ZAM ZOUM,
we meet her with her French
school-friends, a motley bunch
of charmingly drawn characters, from
skater Romain, to clever Yasmine, stylish
Gigi,
ragamuffin Louis, and all the
rest...!
We meet these
appealing and wittily animated characters
both at home and at school,
as they draw pupils into their world and
motivate learning.
In the two
animated grammar explanations, Lucy shows
how to form the plural and her little
dog, Nougat, takes you through the
interactive exercises, barking if you get
it right and howling if you get it wrong
!
